Thermi

Thermi

The eastern coast north of Mytilini has a layered quality — thermal-spa tradition, refugee memory from 1922, prehistoric archaeology and the neoclassical Sarlitza Palace.

The Character of this Area

Thermi (Loutropoli Thermis Area) has been a bathing destination since antiquity. The volcanic springs, the Asia Minor refugee heritage of several villages, and the Bronze Age site at Pyrgi Thermis give this coastal strip more historical depth than its modest visitor infrastructure suggests.

Where to Stay

Most visitors stay in Mytilini (10–15 km south) and explore the Thermis coast as a half-day trip. The area has limited accommodation. See the East Coast hotels page.
