Plomari is more than its waterfront, and its hinterland works best as distinct local circuits rather than one long checklist. Give the town and Agios Isidoros their own time, treat Megalochori as a separate village stop, group Akrasi with Neochori and Ambeliko, and use Palaiochori as the logical approach to Melinda and the separate Panagia Kryfti option.

A route with real stops
The order below is designed to reduce backtracking and to leave enough time for walking, conversation and a proper meal. Opening, access, road and weather conditions can change, so verify the stops that matter most shortly before the visit.
1. Plomari old centre and harbour
Begin on foot around the harbour, market streets and the neighbourhoods that follow the Sedountas riverbed. Look beyond the front row of cafés to the houses, former industrial traces and steep connections between town and valley. Morning and early evening show different sides of the working harbour.
2. One distillery museum
Choose one recognised distillery museum or visitor experience and confirm its current arrangements. Give the visit time to explain copper stills, anise, water and the town’s commercial history. A tasting requires a non-drinking driver, taxi or an overnight stay within walking distance.
3. Agios Isidoros
Use Agios Isidoros for a substantial swim, seaside meal or relaxed afternoon rather than a quick photo. Check wind and sea conditions and select a section that suits your mobility and desired services. Keep alcohol tasting separate from swimming.
4. Megalochori
Use Megalochori as its own Plomari-hinterland stop. Its historic settlement context rewards a village walk without forcing it into a longer mountain circuit. Leave enough daylight for the return and avoid adding distant villages simply to increase the stop count.
5. Akrasi, Neochori and Ambeliko
Keep Akrasi, Neochori and Ambeliko together as the compact inland circuit. Choose two or three according to daylight and road conditions, allow for slow village lanes, and return toward Plomari without trying to add Melinda or Panagia Kryfti to the same outing.
6. Palaiochori, Melinda and Panagia Kryfti
Use Palaiochori and Melinda as the coherent west-coast route. Panagia Kryfti remains a separate access-sensitive objective whose current approach may require a boat or a demanding path; include it only with suitable local guidance and conditions.
Choose the pace that fits
Focused version
Day one: Plomari town, one confirmed distillery museum and Agios Isidoros. Day two: choose either the Akrasi–Neochori–Ambeliko inland circuit or the Palaiochori–Melinda route; do not combine both.
Slower version
A third day lets you visit the circuit you did not choose on day two, keep Megalochori as a separate stop, or spend more time in Plomari’s neighbourhoods and harbour.
What to eat and look for
Look for fish, vegetables, local cheese and small meze plates served with water and slow, responsible ouzo. Village stops suit coffee, sweets or a simple meal. Ask what is open and seasonal rather than building the route around a single business.

- Use a designated driver for all tastings.
- Expect bends, narrow streets and slower driving in the upper villages.
- Check wind and sea conditions before Agios Isidoros or Melinda.
