This route links the capital’s castle, museums and harbour, the beach-and-archaeology coast at Thermi, and the pilgrimage church, ceramics and cheese of Mantamados to the northeast.
Mytilini
Start in the capital: the Castle of Mytilini, the Archaeological Museum and its Roman mosaics, Epano Skala’s layered harbour history, and the Theophilos and Teriade museums at Varia just south of town.
From urban history to the northeastern hills
Use Mytilini for the castle, market streets or Epano Skala, continue north through the Thermi coast and finish at Mantamados. The route joins Ottoman and neoclassical urban history, spa and migration memory, pilgrimage, pottery and dairy culture.

Thermi
A short drive north brings you to the Prehistoric Settlement of Thermi, the tower houses of Pyrgi Thermis, and an easy beach afternoon along the Thermi coast.
Mantamados
Continue northeast to Mantamados for the Monastery of Taxiarchis Michael, the village’s ceramic workshops, and Ladotyri cheese to take home. Add the Man’ Katsa waterfall if the season allows.
This route runs roughly north along the coast then inland, so it works well as a single long day or split across two if you want unhurried time in each place.
