Lampou Myloi, “the mills of Lambos”, takes its name from the watermills that once worked along its stream, powered by one of the more reliable water sources in this part of the island. Traces of the old milling landscape remain in the village’s setting: a spring-fed stream line, stone structures and the kind of quiet green pocket that stands out from the drier hills nearby. It anchors the Evergetoulas cluster more than any of its neighbours.

A deeper look at Lampou Myloi

The name Lampou Myloi translates as “Lampo’s Mills”, a reference to the water mills that once operated here, using the streams that descend from the higher ground. The village is set in a landscape where the combination of running water and olive cultivation created the conditions for milling operations. It is a peaceful and historically evocative settlement.

This part of central-eastern Lesvos is shaped by streams, former mill landscapes and extensive olive cultivation. The villages are close enough to be explored together, but each should be approached as a lived community rather than an open-air attraction.
