Lisvori is known throughout Greece for one thing: the star anise that is the flavouring ingredient in Lesvos ouzo. The finest anise grown in Greece, used by the most respected Plomari distilleries, grows in the fields around this southern village.

What to See and Do in Lisvori

In July when the anise fields are in bloom, the area has a fragrance unlike anything else on the island. The village also has access to thermal springs — smaller and less developed than Polichnitos but part of the same geothermal system.
