Skopelos is the Gera gulf’s best-known waterfront village, its shoreline lined with tavernas built out over the shallow, glass-calm water. Unlike the open-sea resorts elsewhere on Lesvos, Skopelos trades on stillness: fishing boats tied a few metres from taverna tables, gulf shrimp and small fish on the menu, and a pace built around long lunches rather than beach activity. It is the natural base for exploring the whole gulf.
